Our gifts from Mexico!!

Crystal told Danny that she was gonna bring him a sombrero back from Mexico and she did. She and Staci bought me this beautiful cherry bottle (hand-painted) for my dish washing liquid (not from Mexico). Thanks Staci!!! I love it. She also brought me some really nice sterling silver hoop ear-rings (from Mexico). I'm very glad she's home. We all missed her. Thanks Crystal!!! Posted by Picasa

10 things about me!!

1. I lived in Beville, Texas for 2 months when I was 4 years old. My Dad moved us there to find work. He worked on oil rigs. My Mom hated it there. My grandmother came to visit us there from Birmingham and the day she left to go back home, Mama sent me to B' ham with her. When Daddy got home he wanted to know where I was and Mama told him that I was in Birmingham. He told her to go get me and she told him that if he wanted me he would have to go get me himself. So they just moved back to B'ham.
2. When I was a kid I always wanted to be an only child. I had a brother and two little sisters and I only felt like a kid when I went to spend the night with my uncles, aunts and cousins. Now I'm glad I have siblings.
3. I saw Crystal as a baby in a dream several years before she was born.
4. I was in the Girl Scouts for 6 years.
5. I was a cheerleader in Junior High. (6th thru 8th grade)
6. I have always wanted to try caviar. I have recently had some of the pink on some sushi. I still want some of the baluga (tiny black fish eggs).
7. In the 70's I had an apartment in Southside on Idlewild Circle. My room-mate grew marijuana in the kitchen window. She told me that it was bachelor buttons and I believed her.
8. I never dated until I was 21 years old.
9. It took me 5 years and 3 summers to finish high school. My Mom always told me that I would graduate if I had to do so in my old age.
10. In '63 my Mom was right in the middle of the protesting of the intergrating of the public school system. Two years later in '65, my freshman year, one of my best friends was a black girl.

I'm back!!!! I finally got my PC up and running again. It has been 5 weeks and 2 days since my surgery and I am down 38 1/2 lbs. I'm having to learn how to eat all over again. Food just isn't that important to me anymore. I sometimes have to make myself eat and especially make sure I get in all my protein. I haven't guite got a exercise routine down pat yet but I'm working on it. I think I've lost most of the weight so far in my face and my feet. My shoes are too big now. I LOVE IT!!!!! This is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

New Fall Shows

WOW!! There are some really good shows on this fall. These are my favorites so far: MEDIUM, LOST, INVASION, SURVIVOR, ER, GHOST WHISPERER, INCONCEIVABLE, APPRENTICE AND THE MARTHA STEWART APPRENTICE. Are there any that you have found that I didn't list?

Auzzie Boy!!

I guess you all know by reading Crystal's blog that I have a house guest. He is so entertaining. He talks and talks and talks. I have heard him say a few more things over here that Crystal hasn't heard. Some of them are: "That's Bad!" & "Pretty-Pretty Boy!" He also clears his throat just like Crystal and he sounds just like her. He is too cute!!
Vickie

IT'S BEEN ONE WEEK TODAY!!!

One week and I've lost 19 lbs. I am so pumped. I'm not losing too fast considering what I've had done and the amount I need to lose. Right on target.

I go to the Doctor (surgeon) on Monday for my post-op and hopefully to be released to drive and to start using my stationary bike and Crossbow (same as Bowflex).

I take my vitamins (chewable Flintstones Plus / YUMMY!!) and my chewable Caltrate twice a day. I've bought some high protein drinks that were recommended to me and they taste pretty good. They aren't cheap, but I'm not eating alot anymore so that will cut down on our grocery bill.

Protein, vitamins and water are the three most important things for people who have had this surgery. Protein is very important so your hair doesn't fall out.

Well, I'll let you know more later.

PS. Remember a friend of who is going to have her gastric by-pass in the morning. She is being cut open to where mine was laproscopic. Please pray for her. Her name is Pam and her surgery time is at 11:00 am, Friday, Sept. 23rd.

UPDATE!!

Red Hat Today is my 4th day after surgery and I weighed this morning and I have lost 14.5 lbs. Someday I will even tell you all my beginning weight. Maybe we'll even have a contest to see who can guess it. So don't be posting any comments with your guesses right now PLEASE!!

I've told everyone that after I lost my weight that I was getting me a thong. Well, I didn't have to wait till then. Crystal bought me these and brought them to the hospital. They may fit one leg right now. I tried to get Daniel model them for me so I could get an idea how cute they are gonna look but he wouldn't do it. Come on D!!!! I bet you could probably have told by the color of these who bought them, huh!! Thanks Crystal.
Vickie

Staci sent me this for my Birthday. I collect mice and pretty much all my Christmas decorations are mice. This is to hold a candle and will look great with my other little mice. Thanks Staci!!
Vickie

These beautiful pink roses are from my sweet husband. He presented them to me as soon as I got into the car at the hospital. They were for my 'New Beginning'! Thanks Danny!

Here's Crystal and Bonnie, my future nurse. She is going to be an awesome nurse. Bonnie is very compassionate and caring. I think Crystal would make a good nurse as well. This was took at the hospital the evening of my surgery. Love you Be-Bo!!
Vickie

Thanks!!!

I just want to thank everyone who prayed for me and who took time out to come visit me in the hospital.
A very special thanks goes out to my daughter, Crystal who came up and spent my first night with me in the hospital. I couldn't have done it without her. Love ya Crystal.
I want to thank Mrs. Gentry for coming and bringing me some flowers, my sisters Diane, Renee and Jimbo (Renee's husband), my niece Bonnie (my favorite nurse to be), my great friend Deb Acton, my sweet, funny, handsome son-in-law Daniel, Eddie Bozeman.
My biggest thanks goes out to my amazing husband, Danny, who has been very patient with me and supportive thru this time. He did better this time in the hospital. He actually had water in the cup that he had to wet my little sponge with for me to keep my lips and mouth wet since I couldn't have any water or ice for 24 hours.
If I've missed anyone, I'm sorry.

This is one of my most favorite people, Eddie Bozeman. He is an awesome man of God. Eddie came to see me after surgery. He prayed for me and when Eddie prays he will bring you to tears. This is on Thursday, Sept. 15th around 7:00pm.

They say I should be in surgery by 7:00 and it is suppose to be a 3 hour surgery. It is being done at Shelby and I am suppose to stay two nights. I should come home on Saturday if everything follows according to plan. I've surrendered it ALL to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is only He is in complete and total control. AMEN. HALLELUJAH!! God, grant me the Serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the Courage to change the one I can, and the Wisdom to know it's -- me.

The next time you feel like GOD can't use you, just remember...
Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Samson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
John the Baptist ate bugs
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha
worried about everything
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
Zaccheus was too small< BR>Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer...AND
Lazarus was dead!

No more excuses now. God can use you to your full potential.
Besides you aren't the message, you are just the messenger.

1. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.
2. Dear God, I have a problem, it's me.
3. Growing old is inevitable, growing UP is optional.
4. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open.
5. Silence is often misinterpreted but never misquoted.
6. Do the math, count your blessings.
7. Faith is the ability to not panic.
8. Laugh every day, it's like inner jogging.
9. If you worry, you didn't pray. If you pray, don't worry.
10. As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling home everyday.
11. Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.
12. The
most important things in your house are the people.
13. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still.
God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot.
14. A grudge is a heavy thing to carry.
15. He who dies with the most toys is still dead.

Share this with a friend or two. In the Circle of God's love, God's
waiting to use your full potential.

Vance Family Vacation 1971

Renee, Daddy, Diane and Me!!
Vickie

This was on the same trip. We stopped at this restaurant that looked like Noah's ark. Not sure what state it was in. Me, Diane, Momma, and Renee.
Vickie

Renee and I are wrapped in the blankets. We are two Indian Princess'! See, I even have pig-tails.
Vickie

This was probably my most favorite family vacation that we took when I was a kid. Well, I was a teenager. This was at Medicine Bow Mountain, Wyoming. When the sun came out from under the clouds, you could be outside without a jacket, and when the cloud covered the sun, the temp dropped immediately and you needed something else on. It was so beautiful. The water was so clear you could see the rainbow trout swimming in the lake. Mama has her sleeves pushed up and daddy is in his t-shirt.

They say I will be in surgery about 3 hours and probably stay in the hospital 2 or 3 nights. I pray that God will have total and complete control of all of the doctors and nurses that will be assisting in my surgery. I am going to go thru this with no complications or side effects, in the Name of Jesus!!! Big Hug I Love You

I am so humbled!!

Since this devastating catastrophe in the Gulf we have been glued to the TV. Danny and I have said since the beginning we wish we could help somebody. I told him that we have a spare bedroom with a full bath that someone could stay in. That I would love to be able to take care of an elderly couple. This morning I woke up, 1 1/2 after hours I went to sleep, out of a sound sleep with my heart racing, nauseous, tingling sensations thru my body, down my arms and heaviness in my chest. I thought I was having a heart attack. I woke Danny up and we go to the ER at Shelby. After I get there they start evaluating me, EKG, blood work, chest x-ray, etc......... and everything was perfect. I had been having a major panic attack. I have just gone thru sleep apnea clinic and so I know that I do stop breathing while I'm asleep. I think that must have been what happened to me this morning and so I went into a panic, which has the same symptoms as a heart attack. While there I heard that they had some victims (refugees) from New Orleans hospitals that had been transfered to Shelby. I start asking questions and found out that there was a elderly couple there that he was being admitted at that very moment and his wife was with him. IS THAT GOD OR WHAT!!!!! I tell the nurses and doctor there that I want to open my home up to this couple and to please pass this information on. They were very glad to do so and very excited that someone was offering. They told me that they were a very sweet couple and that he had been in the hospital in New Orleans and they were flown in with 6 more families that were at Shelby also with one person from each family being admitted into Shelby. All of these people have nothing. They have lost everything. This breaks my heart. I came home and by 3:00pm I had not heard anything yet, so I call back to Shelby and ask to speak to the case worker. They took my information and right then went to this couples room to tell them that someone was offering them some assistance and they get to crying and then the case worker also gets to crying. The case worker calls me back and tells me all that happened and that they were happy to know this and she gave me their names and room number. I immediately call the room and talk to Bessie. She is 71 and her husbands name is James. I had already asked the case worker if they needed clothes and to take showers and she said that Bessie had a shower and was walking around with a hospital gown on. When I called Bessie she said that all they had was what they had on. She told me what size clothes she wore and everything and I told her that I would see her before visiting hours were over. I call my amazing friend, Betty Morrison and then in turn she calls Faith Lacey. This little lady is getting the Royal treatment. Faith fills up this huge suitcase and tote bag full of new clothes, shoes, toiletries, iron and I don't know what else. I go to her house and pick that up and then I met Betty at Wal-Mart and we proceed to get robe, gown, pajamas, socks, shoes, slippers, purse, panties, wallet, comb, mirror, duffle bag, more toiletries that we didn't already have, snacks, journal and pens. It feels so good to be used by God. We also put some cash in her new purse. Betty had her grandbabies, so Crystal and I get to the hospital about 8:15pm and we were loaded down. I felt like Santa Claus. I love to give. I had rather be on my end of this deal than this little couples end, anyday. We walked in and introduced ourselves. She was so sweet and so humbled and I and Crystal are humbled as well. I had a huge lump in my throat and I could see tears in Crystal's eyes. Praise you, Jesus!!! She was so thankful. We told her that what she couldn't use to give to the nurses and let them pass it onto the other people that were brought in. Her little husband was out of it. He didn't even know we were there. These people have been drug from pillar to post. As soon as James is up and moving we will make sure he has the things he needs to get started as well. He came in a hospital gown, so therefore he has no clothes at all. We are just going to take this one day at a time. That is all God expects us to do. They may stay with me some and they may not. My home is open for them. They do have family that was sent to Houston and she has a sister in South Carolina that she has been in contact with. They are some of the more fortunate of these people. I am in tears as I write this. We are so blessed, people. We have nothing to complain about. THANK YOU, JESUS!! Just to let everybody know, there are more people being brought into Shelby Medical Center, Sunday morning. These people need are help. Pass the word. Open your hearts and pocket-books.

C-PAP

Well, it seems that I do need a C-Pap (snorkel). The clinic called a little while ago and said that the doctor said that I do need a C-Pap and that he wants me to come in for another night at the clinic so that they can observe me wearing it before I bring one home. They had an opening for tonight, but with the unpredictable weather we are having I asked for the next available date which will be Thursday night. Just as long as I don't have to miss Big Brother 6!!

Well here I am. At the sleep clinic, all wired up and ready for the night.
Vickie

My Night at the Sleep Clinic!

I got to the clinic about 5 minutes till 8 last night and had to wait till someone got there to let me in. I beat the tech there. There was only me and one other lady there for the clinic. The tech showed me to my room, which was very nice. Double bed, comfortable chair, ceiling fan, cable tv and a really nice big bath. I could stay a week if they'd let me.
She told me to get my pj's on and watch tv or read until she got through with the other patient and she would be back to wire me up for the night. She came in around 9:30pm and by 10 I was in bed, had my Ambien and it was lights out. When that Ambien kicked in , I was out. I woke up once a couple hours later needing to go to the little girls room, so she came and unhooked me and I made a quick trip and right back into bed. The next thing I remember she was waking me up to go home. I thought I had just gone to sleep.
I was home by 5:30am. I had to wash my hair as soon as I got here to get all that gooey stuff that they attach those electrobes to your head with out of my hair.
Well, it is now a little after 7 and I thought I would go ahead and post my evening before I hit the sack. Gotta go finish sleeping off that Ambien. GOOD NIGHT!!!! (MORNING)whatever!!

Sleep Clinic

I called the Sleep Clinic this afternoon to see if maybe they had a cancellation and the woman told me that she just got off the phone with someone cancelling for Sunday night. She said that she hadn't even had time to see who to call for a reschedule. I said, "Well, I want it!" She said well ok. So now instead of having to wait till Sept 6th, I am now going this Sunday night. YIPEE!! I'm getting closer and closer.

And yet another step!!

Today went really good. All I had to do was fill out a pile of paperwork ank to do Doc. Now my Sleep Clinic is set for Tuesday, Sept. 6th unless they have another cancellation. The nurse/receptionist has my name on the cancellation list. Very nice lady. Her name was Vickie. Good name.
The day of the clinic, I will show up a little after 8pm. By 10pm they will have me all wired up and tucked in bed. They wake you between 5:30 and 6am to leave. I wonder if they'll have a Sushi Bar! HHMM!!
My thing is, I don't normally go to bed till anywhere between 3 and 5 am and sleep till 1 and 2 pm. I'm totally a night person. Hope they have plenty of Ambien.

ONE DAY CLOSER !!

After tomorrow I will be one step closer to having my surgery. YIPEE!!!! My appointment for me to see the Sleep Apnea Doctor was set for Sept. 13th. I had called several times to see if they had any cancellations and they had me on the cancellation list. I called again this morning to see if they had any cancellations and as of then they didn't but informed me that if they did they would call me. Well, at 5:15 pm I got a call saying they had a cancellation for in the morning at 9:30 and could I come in. YES, YES. YES!!!
So I will be there in the morning and then they will set me up for the clinic. That's where you go in a spend the night all wired up to see how many times you stop breathing while you're asleep.
Have you ever seen anyone so excited about going to a Sleep Apnea Clinic before? That just goes to show you how boring my life is. LOL

Hurry Up FALL!!!

Man, I am so ready for FALL!! I hate the hot weather. I LOVE the fall. The cool crispness of the air, sleeping with the fan in the window under a quilt, wearing sweats and socks, hot chocolate, the smell of the falling leaves. Nothing like it.

YUMMO!!!

Today, Crystal and I went to Stix and I ate my very first Sushi. I have also always wanted to try some caviar and my sushi was rolled in the tiny orange caviar and MMMMMMMMMM, oh so good. The next time I go, all I'm eating is Sushi. I love cold foods and Sushi is served cold. YUMMO!!! We also had their Shrimp LoMein. It was delicious, but I loved the Sushi. I wish they would deliver, I would call them right now.
I am most definately going there for my last big meal before my surgery. I guess Danny won't be going with me. Today I told him that I ate my first caviar and my first sushi. He asked where I got the sushi. I said that I got it in Hoover. He said, "You went ALL THE WAY to Hoover to eat Sushi?" I said, "Yes! I drove 7 miles to eat Sushi. I guess the next time I go, I'll just pack me a suitcase and spend the night in a hotel since I'm so far from home." He said, "Oh Shut-up!"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RAZZLE-DAZZLE!!!

STAND IN AGREEMENT WITH ME FOR JOSIAH!!!

"Father, in the name of Jesus, we confess Your Word concerning healing. As we do this, we believe and say that Your Word will not return to you void, but will accomplish what it says it will. Therefore, we believe in the name of Jesus that DANIEL JOSIAH ATCHISON is healed according to I Peter 2:24. It is written in Your Word that Jesus himself took his infirmities and bore his sicknesses. (Matt. 8:17). Therefore, with great boldness and confidence we say on the authority of that written Word that JOSIAH is redeemed from the curse of sickness and JOSIAH refuses to tolerate its symptoms.

"SATAN, WE SPEAK TO YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS AND SAY THAT YOUR PRINCIPALITIES, POWERS, YOUR MASTER SPIRITS WHO RULE THE PRESENT DARKNESS, AND YOUR SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS IN HEAVENLY PLACES ARE BOUND FROM OPERATING AGAINST JOSIAH IN ANY WAY. JOSIAH IS LOOSED FROM YOUR ASSIGNMENT. JOSIAH IS THE PROPERTY OF ALMIGHTY GOD AND WE GIVE YOU NO PLACE IN JOSIAH. JOSIAH DWELLS IN THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH GOD; JOSIAH ABIDES, REMAINS STABLE AND FIXED UNDER THE ALMIGHTY, WHOSE POWER NO FOE CAN WITHSTAND."

Now, Father, because we reverence and worship You, we have the assurance of Your Word that the angel of the Lord encamps around about Josiah and delivers Josiah from every evil work. No evil shall befall Josiah, no plaque or calamity shall come near his dwelling. We confess the Word of God abides in Josiah and delivers to him perfect soundness of mind and wholeness in body and spirit from the deepest parts of his nature in his immortal spirit even to the joints and marrow of his bones. That Word is medication and life to his flesh for the law of the Spirit of life operates in Josiah and makes him free from the law of sin and death.

"We and Josiah have on the whole armor of God and the shield of faith that protects us from all the fiery darts of the wicked. Jesus is the High Priest of our confession, and we hold fast to our confession of faith in Your Word. We stand immovable and fixed in full assurance that Josiah has health and healing NOW in the name of Jesus."

Old Dog New Tricks!!

Don't tell me you can't teach this old dog new tricks.
My PC has been running very slow lately and even freezin' up on me some. I know that she's pretty dusty and I'm sure the little fans in there are pretty coated with all kinds of fuzz because my PC is in my sewing room. There's always fuzz flying in here. So, I talk to Nathan Acton, because he's so stinkin' computer smart and he's my PC buddy, and asked him if it's ok if I take the cover off my tower and get me some canned air and clean her out. He says sure, but to PLEASE be sure and unplug her. Okie dokie!! So I go to Staples and I get me a twin pk of 2-10 oz. cans of air and I'll ready to roll.
I get home, unplug her, take her to the living room and set her up on my ottoman in front of my chair and I proceed to take the cover off. I look it over real good and the only screw I see that I can take out, I do. But, the cover won't budge. I tug and pry with my trusty little screw driver and she ain't budging and I know that if you are having to force something, you ain't doing it right. So I call Daniel, my-son-in-law, (he's my favorite son-in-law), and got him to run over to see if he can figure it out. He's pretty computer savvy, but he can't figure it out either.
He leaves and I call Deb Acton. She pretty computer savvy also. She even built her own but she doesn't know how mine comes off. I finally decide to do what I should have done in the first place; get out the manual, DUH!!!
Oh well, that was a old trick that this old girl forgot to use, which should have been the first thing I should have done. Piece of cake. Unscrew that onelittle screw, press the little black button and she slides right off. I blew the garbage out of her. I had dust in my mouth, up my nose, in my eyes, my hair and all over me and my chair.
I get her all cleaned out, put her cover back on, plug everything back in, turn her on and she runs like a new one. YEAH!!!!!!!!!! I'm so proud of myself.
See what you can do if you read the manual first.

A Complex!!!

I'm beginning to wonder if anybody ever reads my blog anymore. I'm about to get a complex. Yes, I'm having a pity party. If you read my blog, how about giving a shout out to little ole' me, PLEASE!!!!!

DISCOVERY

WOW!! How amazing that was to watch; the shuttle, Discovery, coming in for a landing. Whwn I went to bed, I set my clock for 6:30am so I could be up to see the shuttle land on live coverage. I tried my best to go to sleep, but at 6:25, I was still awake so I went ahead and got up. It is now 8:42 am and I'm still up. But, WOW, to be able to see that was awesome!!!!!!!

Spoiling Grand-baby Time!!

While Keith and Lindy are in Bay Minette, Mercy is staying the week-end and all next week here in town with her three sets of Grand-parents. She will spend several days and nights with each of us. Danny and I will have her Tuesday am till sometime Thursday. That will probably be enough for me because she is so active. She is so much like Keith. She has a very high metabolism and a very short attention span. I love having her though. She's so beautiful. She knows how to play her Pappa too. Danny would stand on his head over hot-coals if thats what she wanted. SAD isn't it? LOL!!!

A Very Pleasant Evening!

Keith and Lindy are now in Bay Minette for a interview and to check out a church in Bay Minette. They came in last night. Lindy had a migrane and it was past Mercy's bedtime so Keith dropped them off at Lindy's parents house and he came over to visit with us for awhile. He got here about 8:30 and Danny and I hadn't eat supper yet. Danny was re-heating some peas and cornbread and I had thawed out a couple T-Bone steaks. Danny had rather have peas. So Keith and I had T-Bones. Yummo!! I love my Foreman Grill. While we were eating Crystal walked over and we just sat around and talked. It was a really nice evening.

This is me, Betty Morrison, Shirley Gatlin, Crystal and Nancy Stone in the back-ground. This is the very first year that we put on The Gospel According To Scrooge. I think it was one of the best years we had for scrooge. We had so much fun. Wish in some ways we could turn back the clock.
