CHRISTMAS 1953

This is one of my most favorite pictures. This is me and my Daddy at Christmas 1953. I had turned two in September. I think all little girls and boys got all new Western wear in those days. I also got a 'pink' bouncy horse that year. I LOVE the way my Mama always went all out with her decorating. I sure do miss her!!

Popup No More

I love spending time online. I think of it as a hobby. Surfing the web. Blogging about my interests. Reading other peoples blogs. Playing different games. Shopping on ebay. Looking for the latest news on celebrities. But the one thing I hate more than anything is to be bombarded by stupid pop-ups! They can freeze my computer up in a second & make being online a less then fun thing. I think I need to find a good popup blocker.

Fresh Cleaning

I have heard great things about getting a colon cleanse. From just feeling better physically, to loosing weight. I have a friend that owns her own colon cleansing spa. I also have other friends that have gone to get them done before. It's something that I have thought about having done. Have you had a colon cleanse? Is it something you would do again? If you haven't had it done, would you?

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to my Baby Sister, NA-NA!!

Just one more and you'll be a HALF CENTURY!!!!

My Little Seamstress Helper!!

My Church is taking a crew of people on a Maps trip to Africa in November to help build a church. One of the women asked me if I would make her an apron to wear over her clothes so that she didn't ruin them while carrying supplies back and forth on the job site. I found out that there will be twelve women going, so my contribution to the trip will be twelve aprons for the women to wear while they are working. Tonight I was working on them and someone insisted on helping me. So here are a couple pictures of my 'Little Seamstress Helper', "Auzzie".

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this time of year!!!

This is my all time favorite time of the year. I am now able to sit out in my front porch swing and read my Bible. I can really get more in-depth studying done now than any time of the year. When I'm in my swing I can totally block out House-work, TV, computer etc, etc, etc,.......................................................

Jesus and I just have a good ole' time. The mosquitoes aren't trying to eat me alive either. That is what makes me retreat indoors anyway: THOSE dreaded, PESKY MOSQUITOES!!!!!

NOW... back to my porch. Here are a few pictures I took today. Some from my porch and some as I cruised my yard. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them.

A Thing Of The Past

I heard on the radio the other day that Walmart is going to be pulling all of their "old TV's" (I can not remember what they are called). And only stocking the shelves with projection televisions (HDTV). They said that all home should have there, by 2009, since all channels will be produced in HDTV. Crazy, huh? Remember those huge console TV's? The ones they were built to be a piece of furniture? We had one growing up & the channel dial was broken. So we would have to wedge a piece of folded up paper under the dial to keep it on the channel! Hahahaha!!!

He's Cute

I'm not a huge sports fan. I love my Auburn football, but I'm not into pro-sports. I only watch the Superbowl, for the commercials. Plus to see if there will be some new drama arise from the halftime show. They have been pretty lame since the "wardrobe malfunction." I think one of my favorite shows, was Aerosmith/N*sync & Britney Spears. That one was fun. I do know one NFL player & that's Tom Brady. I learned his name when the Patriots won the Superbowl. And I thought, "Oh....He's a cutie!" So, if someone gave me some Patriots tickets, I would surely go to a game.

What A Gift

While the opportunity arose for me to get a locket, Mom got one too.
She has 2 gold lockets, one is tiny & from when she was a little girl. I do not know if there is anything in it. My Granny gave it to her. The other one, Danny gave to her for Christmas one year. It has two pictures in it. One of Mom & the other of Danny.
She was really excited to get this new one. I think because she got to personalize it with her favorite scripture Isaiah 40:31. And also have a newer photo of her & Danny put in it.

She had her locket engraved with the scripture on the front.

How sweet! Aren't they cute?

This is the picture she used.

Birthdays

I love, love, love birthdays! It think they should always be made special, after all it is that day that person came into the world. I love my birthday & last year when I turned 30, I wasn't too excited about that number, but this year I really am looking forward to it. I wish I were having a big celebration, but having a birthday so close to Christmas, everyone is busy or thinks that my birthday can just be added to the Christmas cheer. Well, that's just not really fair. A birthday is a birthday, whether it be in July or December. And it isn't like a birthday is unexpected! You can plan for it. :) I may just have to plan my own party one of these days, even though I would love for it to be a surprise party. I would use cute birthday invitations like these.

Grey's Anatomy

I never wanted to watch Grey's Anatomy, when it first premiered. It just never seemed like something I wanted to spend my time viewing. I had been an advid ER fan for about 10 years, then it just got boring & redundant. Most of my friends, were really into Grey's, so I finally gave in, after season 3. I bored season 1 one from a friend & D & I couldn't believe we had been missing out on this show! Another friend then sent me season 2. We have yet to get all caught up on season 3, but we hope to soon. Well, as soon as we can rent it. It's always out at the video store.
While watching these medical dramas, you often see them doing paper work. I'm sure when people go into the medical field the last thing that they think about is the mounds of paper work. I bet that healthcare management software would save them tons of time.

I Gotta Shop

Oh man, is it really time to do some Christmas shopping again? I wonder what will be all the rage this year...Xbox 360, Tickle Me Elmo? Every year there seems to be the "must have" gift.
I was around, during the first year of the Cabbage Patch insanity. I believe that is actually the year, that started the "must have" craze. Mom pulled through & I ended up with a very special Cabbage Patch to call my own, his name was Patrick Michael. I still have him too! I remember sitting in front of the TV & seeing on the news, the people snatching those dolls out of each others hands. I guess people will go to any lengths to get their children, exactly what they ask Santa for.

Gotta Light?

I need some new light fixtures in my bathroom. The lighting is terrible in there. I have never heard of seagull lighting before, but they have some nice fixtures to choose from.

I would like this above my sink. And then something like this in the other 2 fixtures.

I' have never had the chance to actually pick out things like this & I can not wait until I am able too.

Please Mr. Postman

Yesterday, when we were pulling into the driveway, after church, I said, "We sure do need a new mailbox." Of course, being the man that he is, D asked, "What's wrong with ours?" Well, for starters, the flag is about to fall off. Then the entire mailbox, looks like it is about to come off of the wooden post. So, I think we need to make a trip to look at new mailboxes. This website does have more than just mailboxes, so check it out. I have fun browsing.

This one is neat, I like the little planters.

The sidemailbox is different, so I really like it.

This one would be great! It alerts you with this little flag, so you know you have mail.

And if only this one would come in Auburn!

Great Christmas Gift

I think it was last Christmas, Danny got Mom, one really romantic, thoughtful gift....A kitchen sink! I told her when she got it, that next Christmas he would probably install it. Sure enough, it is still sitting, propped up against the wall, in the catch all room. But honestly, why would a man go down the kitchen sinks isle & think to himself, "This is the perfect gift for my wife.?" It would be a pretty good gift, if it was installed! Hahaha!

Football Season

Football season is in full swing. I was watching a show one day about college football fanatics & they said that Tennessee football has some of the most passionate fans... Maybe so. But they surely haven't been to Alabama before & seen this hysteria that goes on around here, between Alabama & Auburn fans. Time seems to stand still when they play. Cars are drenched in the colors are the favorite team. There are even house divided paraphernalia. If you want to see some crazy football fans, make a trip down here.

Neighbors

I think my neighbor may be putting his house up for sale or his daughter is a realtor. There are a few "for sale" signs behind his house, leaning up next to the shed. Even though, he's a strange fellow, and there for awhile, he was taking his anger out on our garbage can. We really never see him. And it makes me a bit nervous to think of having new neighbors, especially if they are like some of the other neighbors we have. I haven't ever lived anywhere, where we were friendly with the neighbors, not that we didn't want to be, it's just the neighbors we had, didn't want to be neighborly to us. That is something I would love though, to live in a friendly neighborhood, where you can sit on each others porch, sipping sweet tea & talking about life or baking cookies & sharing them.

Go Green

I have a green thumb & seem to be able to get just about anything to grow. But there are some out there, that kill anything green they get their hands on. But I think everyone should have some greenery in their homes, that's where silk trees come in handy. They are also great for work places as well. We have quite alot of them at church. We do have some real plants in the office that have seemed to flourish since I've been there. Silk plants are also good if you have pets & aren't sure about what is poisonous or not.
