An Interesting Fact

Did you know this about the pocket watch?

The rise of railroading during the last half of the 19th century led to the widespread use of pocket watches. Because of the likelihood of train wrecks and other accidents if all railroad workers did not accurately know the current time, pocket watches became required equipment for all railroad workers.

I really enjoy learning little tidbits like this.

Laptop Dreams

Our computer is about 5 years old. Even though I love CaliBama (that's her name), I wouldn't mind having a notebook computer. To be able to take my computer wherever I want to & work on different things, watch movies & create without having to be stuck at a desk would be a dream. I'll have me another laptop someday. D got one when we were dating, but it eventually crashed, to never be resurrected again. Whenever I do get one, I would love to have a pink one though! But I also think the kind with the flip top are pretty nifty.

Need One?

The 1x2 HDMI Splitters duplicates high definition video (in multiple resolutions up to 1080p) and digital audio from one source and displays it on two units. simultaneously display a high definition video sources, such as satellite systems, HD DVD, Blu-Ray Disc, and PS3. The output sends two high definition audio/video signals to two high definition display.
Sounds like a foreign language to me, but I'm sure D knows exactly what is does.

Gotta Exercise

With 2008 fast approaching, I'm sure everyone is thinking about New Years resolutions. The #1 resolution is loosing weight. What a better way to help that along than with exercise. There is a piece of equipment that I have wanted & it's an elliptical. These things seriously rock! I would like to have one to use at home. I'm not a fan of going somewhere else to work out. Mom has equipment next door & I want even go over there.

Make Your Own

The other day, I was telling Mom about mr beer. It's a keg that you can make your own beer with. She made me laugh, when she said she's always wanted one. Yeah, I can see that going over real well with Danny. Hahaha...I could just see Mom now, up in the cave with her little Mr. Beer. It would be like the old steel's.
They also have a Mr. Rootbeer & D really wants one of them.

Car Makeover

I was thinking about giving my car "Bubbles" a makeover. We want to get a second car & then she would get all fancy. I would love to have her painted a glittery hot pink. I was looking at car spoilers & thought about adding one of those. Just to make her seem a bit more sporty. D said he would never drive a hot pink car, but that's fine with me.

Every Little Bit Helps

Working somewhere with 3 employees, I don't think we would need business performance management, but I'm sure there are countless businesses that do.
What exactly is BPM? It is a set of processes that help organizations optimize their business performance. It is a framework for organizing, automating and analyzing business methodologies, metrics, processes and systems that drive business performance.

Old?

I'll be turning 31 this week & it's not just yet time for me to buy some life insurance for senior, but there are moments, when I wonder when I got old. Like seeing kids that I used to teach at the daycare & they are now driving. Or kids that were in the youth group, when I was a youth leader & they are now married & having babies. It's also weird seeing trends that were popular when I was growing up, making comebacks.

What The Heck?

The other day, I was sitting at the computer & I kept hearing something that sorta sounded like thunder. It happened a few times, when I asked D if he had heard it. I thought maybe we were finally going to have a much needed rain storm. I heard the sound again & decided to investigate. It was 5...YES...5 squirrels, chasing each other back & forth on the cables, that run from our house to the power pole. I wanted to video them, but by the time I realized what was making all the noise, the little rascals were through with their fun. It was cute.

House Hunters

One of my favorite shows on HGTV, is House Hunters. It's so fun to see, where the people live & why they are looking for a new home. Then to see their 3 choices. I always pick my favorite, then I try to guess the house they are going to choose. The real estate agents on there, make me laugh sometimes, with the very poor acting, but I don't watch it for them. The House Hunters, that I love the most, are the international ones. I guess it's the longing for travel, in me. But it just fascinates me how other people live. Especially in other countries.

Another Dream

This is totally a dream of D's. That boy, watches more movies than anyone I have ever seen. If he could that would be his career, hahaha! I know he would want a Bose home theater. I could just see him now, in his own home theater, lounging on a overstuffed sofa, a glass of root bear, a footlong Subway sandwich & a stack of DVD's. Oh & Razzy would be laying right there too, can't forget him!

A Dream

I was checking out this website, that offers land for sale, all over the country. No, I'm not in the market for land, but I really enjoy looking at property & dreaming of the future. I found some absolutely gorgeous places out here in Alabama. Some have homes already on them, but most of still in their natural state. This would probably shock alot of people, but I would love to own a ranch. Not a working ranch, but some acreage, with rolling hills, perfect for photo taking. I would also have a few cows, goats & maybe a chicken or two.

Weight To Loose?

I think I came out of the womb, searching for a supersize fry. And I think I went on my first diet, when I was 8 or 9. So that means, over 20 years of dealing with weight issues. Yikes! I've never thought about it that way. You would have thought, I would have won that battle by now. There are somethings I tried, that actually work, but I just didn't stick to them, including exercise, Weight Watchers, Hydroxycut & low carb. I do have a few medical things stacked against me, so it's an even bigger challenge for me, but I really am pretty comfortable with who I am at this point in my life. If I lost another size or 2, that would be good, but I will never be a size 8.

Finally Finished!

I finally got all my Christmas decorations up that I will be putting up except for a wreath and some garland which I have to go buy.

I was having problems with my tree because you little section refuses to light and so I finally decided to go ahead and use it one more year and after Christmas I will buy the tree I want on CLEARANCE! I LOVE CLEARANCES!!!!!!!

As most of you know I collect Mice ornaments and I also LOVE Santa ornaments. I am also partial to the colors, red and white (I didn't say Crimson and White :P!!!!).

I also add to my Christmas Village every year and I am running out of room to put it all up together. I need a new house with a HUGE mantel over a fireplace. (hint-hint).

It is also a tradition for me to put out all my family pictures with Santa at Christmas and this year I placed them under my little fiber-optic tree. I think they are probably my favorite thing.

Amby Baby

There are so many different kinds of baby beds out there. I guess for those in the market for one, the task for choosing the "perfect" furniture for the nursery, can almost be daunting. I have seen this baby bed in magazines before, but didn't exactly know what the purpose of it was for, until I saw their site & read up on it. Sounds like it would be a dream for parents who need a good nights sleep. As well, for a baby to feel comforted.

This is what the site says:
Finally, a solution for your fussy baby! The Amby Baby Motion Bed helps babies and parents get the sleep they need with it’s womb-like design and gentle motion that babies love. Endorsed by Dr. Sears, the Amby Baby bed is specially helpful for babies with reflux(GER), colic and even preemies.

Here's a video that explains more about it.

Got A Light

We bought some of the lumber to put a cover on our back porch. We still some more of the stuff, but I was checking out maxim lighting, to see what kind of light I might want to use on the porch. The light we have now is right next to the door, so moths love to fly in the house. Which freaks me out! So, a light in a different location would be nice. I found a few lights that I like, this one included...

Ticket Time

Goodness, what is all the rage about High School Musical? It's a bit corny to me, but let me tell you...There do little clips of the songs on the Disney Channel & I will find myself zoned into the video. Zac Efron's dance moves mesmerize me. Hahaha!
This movie is so big that schools are now using it for their plays & there is even a company touring with the musical. I'm sure there are some kids out there, who will be getting High School Musical tickets for Christmas.

Bag Of Stuff

We had a large bag full of any kind of wire/cord you can imagine. It was all knotted up & a huge mess. I considered it D's job to organize it, since I am the one that does all the other stuff around here. I kept asking him to clean it, but of course being the man he is, he didn't hear me. So finally one Saturday, while he was lougning on the couch, I brought the bag out & laid it in front of him & told him that it was his job to clean it up. He was non to happy, but at least I got him to do something I had been asking him to do. There was so much stuff crammed into that bag. All kinda of electrical gadgets, cordless phone battery, phones, extension cards, you name it. But now all the cards are rolled up neatly & we know what's in there.

In The News

Alcohol rehab seems to be in the news a lot lately. Everyday it seems another celebrity is in need of some guidance. Makes you wonder, why people who have fame and fortune, the things most people strive for, want to throw it all away. Thankfully there are centers out there, that provide care & rehabilitation. The key to it all, is wanting to change. That's what makes the difference. It's not just for the rich and famous, it's for anyone who needs help.

Collecting Stuff

It always amazes me at what people enjoy collecting. I think it tells alot about a person. I collect several different things...Anything Lucille Ball, retro, milk glass, old dishes, Christmas ornaments & now Willow Tree figurines.
My Mom collects...teapots, stuff with mice, books, Christmas village things & cherries.
D collects anything Superman.
D's Mom has so many collection, that I had to quit keeping count.
My cousin Laurie, collects John Deere stuff, purse & pen (which both of those seem to run in the family).
Then there are those, that collect sports memorabilia or movie memorabilia.
I think it's neat to go to someones home & see their collections displayed with such pride.
It seems that once I know of someones passion for something, any time I see an item that pertains to whatever it is, I always think of that person. I don't know how often people say they think of me, when they see something Lucy. It always makes me smile. Years ago, my Aunt Renee's kitchen was decorated in geese. Anytime I see them now I think of her.
I found this pretty cool site that offers all kinds of memorabilia, from sports to movies. Here's just a sampling of what they offer...

As you can see they have so many things to choose from.I'm that there is sure to be something for all collectors.

Dream A Little Dream

It's always good to dream. Because without dreams, what do we have?
One dream that I have for my family is to someday have a home large enough, to have a game room. It would have a pool table, for D. And I would want to have a 1950's soda shop, complete with chrome bar stools, for me. I would love to entertain & host parties. We we live now, it's just not a good place for company, or at least many people. So, for us to one day have a home for entertaining, that would be a dream come true, for sure.

CHRISTMAS 1953

This is one of my most favorite pictures. This is me and my Daddy at Christmas 1953. I had turned two in September. I think all little girls and boys got all new Western wear in those days. I also got a 'pink' bouncy horse that year. I LOVE the way my Mama always went all out with her decorating. I sure do miss her!!

Popup No More

I love spending time online. I think of it as a hobby. Surfing the web. Blogging about my interests. Reading other peoples blogs. Playing different games. Shopping on ebay. Looking for the latest news on celebrities. But the one thing I hate more than anything is to be bombarded by stupid pop-ups! They can freeze my computer up in a second & make being online a less then fun thing. I think I need to find a good popup blocker.

Fresh Cleaning

I have heard great things about getting a colon cleanse. From just feeling better physically, to loosing weight. I have a friend that owns her own colon cleansing spa. I also have other friends that have gone to get them done before. It's something that I have thought about having done. Have you had a colon cleanse? Is it something you would do again? If you haven't had it done, would you?

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to my Baby Sister, NA-NA!!

Just one more and you'll be a HALF CENTURY!!!!

My Little Seamstress Helper!!

My Church is taking a crew of people on a Maps trip to Africa in November to help build a church. One of the women asked me if I would make her an apron to wear over her clothes so that she didn't ruin them while carrying supplies back and forth on the job site. I found out that there will be twelve women going, so my contribution to the trip will be twelve aprons for the women to wear while they are working. Tonight I was working on them and someone insisted on helping me. So here are a couple pictures of my 'Little Seamstress Helper', "Auzzie".

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this time of year!!!

This is my all time favorite time of the year. I am now able to sit out in my front porch swing and read my Bible. I can really get more in-depth studying done now than any time of the year. When I'm in my swing I can totally block out House-work, TV, computer etc, etc, etc,.......................................................

Jesus and I just have a good ole' time. The mosquitoes aren't trying to eat me alive either. That is what makes me retreat indoors anyway: THOSE dreaded, PESKY MOSQUITOES!!!!!

NOW... back to my porch. Here are a few pictures I took today. Some from my porch and some as I cruised my yard. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them.

A Thing Of The Past

I heard on the radio the other day that Walmart is going to be pulling all of their "old TV's" (I can not remember what they are called). And only stocking the shelves with projection televisions (HDTV). They said that all home should have there, by 2009, since all channels will be produced in HDTV. Crazy, huh? Remember those huge console TV's? The ones they were built to be a piece of furniture? We had one growing up & the channel dial was broken. So we would have to wedge a piece of folded up paper under the dial to keep it on the channel! Hahahaha!!!

He's Cute

I'm not a huge sports fan. I love my Auburn football, but I'm not into pro-sports. I only watch the Superbowl, for the commercials. Plus to see if there will be some new drama arise from the halftime show. They have been pretty lame since the "wardrobe malfunction." I think one of my favorite shows, was Aerosmith/N*sync & Britney Spears. That one was fun. I do know one NFL player & that's Tom Brady. I learned his name when the Patriots won the Superbowl. And I thought, "Oh....He's a cutie!" So, if someone gave me some Patriots tickets, I would surely go to a game.

What A Gift

While the opportunity arose for me to get a locket, Mom got one too.
She has 2 gold lockets, one is tiny & from when she was a little girl. I do not know if there is anything in it. My Granny gave it to her. The other one, Danny gave to her for Christmas one year. It has two pictures in it. One of Mom & the other of Danny.
She was really excited to get this new one. I think because she got to personalize it with her favorite scripture Isaiah 40:31. And also have a newer photo of her & Danny put in it.

She had her locket engraved with the scripture on the front.

How sweet! Aren't they cute?

This is the picture she used.

Birthdays

I love, love, love birthdays! It think they should always be made special, after all it is that day that person came into the world. I love my birthday & last year when I turned 30, I wasn't too excited about that number, but this year I really am looking forward to it. I wish I were having a big celebration, but having a birthday so close to Christmas, everyone is busy or thinks that my birthday can just be added to the Christmas cheer. Well, that's just not really fair. A birthday is a birthday, whether it be in July or December. And it isn't like a birthday is unexpected! You can plan for it. :) I may just have to plan my own party one of these days, even though I would love for it to be a surprise party. I would use cute birthday invitations like these.

Grey's Anatomy

I never wanted to watch Grey's Anatomy, when it first premiered. It just never seemed like something I wanted to spend my time viewing. I had been an advid ER fan for about 10 years, then it just got boring & redundant. Most of my friends, were really into Grey's, so I finally gave in, after season 3. I bored season 1 one from a friend & D & I couldn't believe we had been missing out on this show! Another friend then sent me season 2. We have yet to get all caught up on season 3, but we hope to soon. Well, as soon as we can rent it. It's always out at the video store.
While watching these medical dramas, you often see them doing paper work. I'm sure when people go into the medical field the last thing that they think about is the mounds of paper work. I bet that healthcare management software would save them tons of time.

I Gotta Shop

Oh man, is it really time to do some Christmas shopping again? I wonder what will be all the rage this year...Xbox 360, Tickle Me Elmo? Every year there seems to be the "must have" gift.
I was around, during the first year of the Cabbage Patch insanity. I believe that is actually the year, that started the "must have" craze. Mom pulled through & I ended up with a very special Cabbage Patch to call my own, his name was Patrick Michael. I still have him too! I remember sitting in front of the TV & seeing on the news, the people snatching those dolls out of each others hands. I guess people will go to any lengths to get their children, exactly what they ask Santa for.

Gotta Light?

I need some new light fixtures in my bathroom. The lighting is terrible in there. I have never heard of seagull lighting before, but they have some nice fixtures to choose from.

I would like this above my sink. And then something like this in the other 2 fixtures.

I' have never had the chance to actually pick out things like this & I can not wait until I am able too.

This has been a sponsored post.
